ثمَّة طائر أزرق في قلبي يتوق للخروج لكنني أقسو عليه

أقول له:

ابق في الداخل هناك، لن أدع أحداً يراك

ثمة طائر أزرق في قلبي

يتوق للخروج، لكنني أغمره بالويسكي وأستنشق دخان السجائر

فلا تعلم الفاسقات والسقاة والبقّالون بوجوده داخلي

ثمة طائر أزرق في قلبي

يتوق للخروج لكنني أقسو عليه

أقول له: ابق هادئا، هل تريد أن تشتتني؟

وتفسد أعمالي؟

وتبدّد مبيعات كتبي في أوروبا ؟

ثمة طائر أزرق في قلبي يتوق للخروج

لكنني ذكي جداً

أفك قيده بعض الليالي والناس نيام

أقول له:

أعلم بوجودك فلا تحزن

ثم أعيده داخلي

لكنه يقتصد بالغناء

ولا أُمِيتُه

ثم ينام كلانا بحالتنا هذه محتفظين بأسرارنا

من الجميل أن تُبكي رجلاً

لكنّي لا أبكي

فهل تبكي أنت؟
